Safety After the Baby Comes

Make sure that the mattress is snug in the crib and that there is no extra
bedding in it

walkers-ever!!! Take back any you get as a shower present and
get one without wheels

Get smoke detectors and make sure the ones you have work
-
Set the hot water thermostat for less than 120 degrees F

Make everywhere, especially the home and car, smoke free

Consider taking a class on infant CPR

Make sure that the
car seat is always secured properly.

Put the baby to sleep on their back or side to decrease the risk of SIDS

Test the water temperature on your wrist to make sure it's not too hot
before giving the baby a bath.

Do not drink hot liquids while holding the baby

Never, ever, ever shake the baby

Never leave the baby alone with a young sibling or pet
-
Do not leave the baby alone in a tub if water (even to answer the phone) or
on high places such as a changing table or chair)

Always keep one hand on the baby
